Parkway East, Ear, Nose and Throat

Otorhinolaryngology is the medical specialty that deals with the ear, nose and throat, also known as ENT. The scope of ENT ranges from regular allergies to serious, life-threatening diseases which diminish the quality of life of the people who suffer from them.

Parkway East Hospital is the only hospital in the east of Singapore to have an in-house audiometry clinic. Our ENT specialists are capable of diagnosing and treating a variety of ENT problems.

  • Gain Clarity

An accurate diagnosis will allow our ENT specialists to better understand your condition and devise a suitable treatment plan to put you on the path towards recovery.

At Parkway East Hospital, we are equipped with all the tools necessary for an accurate diagnosis. In nose and throat conditions, your specialist is able to perform a nasal endoscopy by inserting a thin, flexible, tubular camera into your nasal passages. This allows your specialist to see its internal structure and determine the extent of your illness. Nasal endoscopy can be used to diagnose nose-related conditions including sinusitis (sinus infection), nasal blockage, nosebleed, nasal polyps (non-cancerous growths in the lining of the nasal or sinus passages), as well as problems in the larynx and throat.

    Audiometry Clinic

Audiometry is the science of measuring a person’s hearing. In order for ENT specialists to prescribe the most appropriate treatment, it is important for diagnostic tests to be performed on the patient by qualified professionals in the right environment. At Parkway East Hospital, all diagnostic hearing tests are performed by qualified audiologists in an acoustically treated sound booth. This professional set-up obtains accurate ear- and frequency-specific information, allowing us to determine the type and degree of hearing loss. This ensures accurate pre- and post-surgery hearing assessments and helps in the selection of the most suitable hearing-assist devices (ie. hearing aids or implantable hearing devices). At the end of the the tests, you will receive a clear and detailed explanation of your hearing diagnosis.

The diagnostic services at our audiometry clinic include:

    • Pure tone audiometry (diagnostic hearing test)
    • Tympanometry (middle ear test)
    • Speech audiometry

    Hearing Aids and Implants

Our in-house audiometry clinic offers a wide selection of hearing aids to help with hearing loss. Behind-the-ear hearing aids are used to treat mild to profound hearing loss and are suitable for people of all ages, including children. In-ear hearing aids are custom-made for patients with more specific conditions, and there are ‘invisible’ hearing aids that allow for better cosmetic appearance, so that people would not be able to tell that you are wearing a hearing aid.

Besides hearing aids, we also offer special implants for those with severe to profound hearing loss. Unlike hearing aids, implants bypass the damaged structure of the ear and stimulates the auditory nerve directly. This offers a practical way to deal with serious hearing loss problems.

The hearing implants we offer include:
