Nasal Endoscopy

  • What is Nasal Endoscopy?

Nasal endoscopy is an examination procedure that allows an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist to study the nasal and sinus passages, larynx (voice box), pharynx (area behind the nose and mouth) and surrounding structures using clear and highly magnified images. It usually involves inserting either a flexible or rigid endoscope (a thin tube with a camera at the end) through the nasal passages. When carried out by an experienced specialist, the use of local anaesthetic prevents discomfort during the procedure.

  • Your ENT specialist might advise nasal endoscopy to diagnose nose-related conditions, such as sinusitis (sinus infection), nasal blockage, nosebleeds, nasal polyps (non-cancerous growths in the lining of the nasal or sinus passages), as well as different types of laryngeal trauma (throat injury).
