Dr Chong Chern Hao is a gastroenterologist at Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.
He has interests in gastrointestinal cancer, specifically early detection and biomarker discovery, and general gastroenterology. Dr Chong also has extensive experience in the field of hepatology (liver disease) due to his clinical load and experience from various clinical trials. He was involved in many clinical trials from viral hepatitis B, hepatitis C, liver cirrhosis to liver transplantation during his days in a restructured hospital.
On top of that, he is trained to perform enhanced imaging endoscopy and water-immersion colonoscopy, which is a special technique designed to minimise discomfort during endoscopy, improve patient experience as well as increase the success rate for difficult colonoscopy.
He has practised clinical hepatology and general gastroenterology at the National University Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Woodlands Health Campus (WHC). While at WHC, he started and headed medical service planning from 2016 to 2018.
Dr Chong received his bachelor's degrees from the University of Malaya, Malaysia in 2009, master's degree from the National University of Singapore in 2013, membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians, UK in 2013 and fellowship of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, in gastroenterology in 2016.
He is an active member of the National Foundation of Digestive Disease, providing public health talks on liver disease awareness and a regular speaker in various general practitioner seminars.
