Dr Png Keng Siang is a urologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
His areas of expertise include robotic and other minimally invasive surgical procedures. He specialises in uro-oncology, benign prostate hyperplasia and kidney stones.
Prior to private practice, Dr Png was director of the robotic urological surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
He completed his urology specialist training in Singapore followed by a clinical fellowship in robotic and laparoscopic surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine, US and became the earliest urologist to do so. He is also the earliest Singapore urologist to be conferred a fellow in the American College of Surgeons.
Dr Png has performed more than 800 robotic and laparoscopic procedures and has been practising medicine for more than 20 years.
He has trained numerous urologists both locally and abroad in minimally invasive surgery. He performed live surgery demonstrations in Myanmar and Vietnam and was the earliest doctor to perform 3 robotic urological operations in Vietnam as a guest surgeon at Bien Dahn Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City in 2016. He has proctored local and international urologists in over 200 robotic procedures in Singapore. He has also represented Singapore in various regional robotic surgery forums.
He was a member of the Ministry of Health (MOH) technology assessment committee in 2015, and was subsequently appointed as the only urologist in the workgroup advising MOH on robotic surgery matters in 2018.
He was the director of the National Healthcare Group’s urology residency programme and adjunct assistant professor at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Currently, he serves as the Joint Committee on Specialist Training site accreditor for the urology residency programme.
Dr Png is also actively involved in several academic organisations. He is the founding member and vice-president of the Robotic Surgery Society of Singapore. Dr Png was the honorary secretary of the Singapore Urological Association, where he also served for eight years on its executive committee. He is an international member of the American Urological Association and Endourological Society, and has served in the education committee of the Society of Urologic Robotic Surgeons.
He is a recipient of several Long Service Awards.
