Dr Mark Tan is an orthopaedic surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
His subspeciality is in spine surgery. His clinical interests encompass a broad range of spinal procedures including minimally invasive techniques, anterior and lateral lumbar procedures, joint preserving, and complex spine deformity surgery for degenerative, neoplastic and traumatic spine conditions.
Dr Tan is a consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and a visiting consultant at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and obtained his master’s degree. He is a member and fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He received the Health Manpower Development Plan scholarship and did his advanced spine fellowship in spinal deformities in Australia.
He is involved in the robotic spine surgery and Enhanced Recovery After Spine Surgery workgroups at the National Healthcare Group’s Spine Centre.
Dr Tan has organised and led numerous local and regional spine courses.
He was the chairman of Young Spine Surgeon Chapter, Singapore Spine Society and is currently the Society’s executive committee member.
Beyond his clinical work, he serves as an adjunct assistant professor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
Dr Tan has authored numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals and is a frequent speaker at international conferences.
