Dr Wong Chun Pong (Cliff)

Dr Cliff Wong is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.

His clinical expertise lies in cardiomyopathy, heart failure, valvular heart diseases, and cardio-oncology. He is skilled in performing 2D and 3D transthoracic echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography, contrast echocardiography, pharmacological and exercise stress echocardiography.

Dr Wong was formerly a senior consultant and lead for cardiac rehabilitation at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

He graduated from the University of Hong Kong. He attained his membership of the Royal College of Physicians and underwent further training in cardiology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan Award and pursued his training in advanced cardiac imaging at the Cleveland Clinic, USA. He obtained his board certification in echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography, USA and cardiovascular computed tomography by the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, USA. He is also a certified cardiac rehabilitation professional by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, USA.

He started the streamline management of young stroke patients from the point of screening by transthoracic echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography to the arrangement of closure of Patent foramen ovale (a hole between the left and right atria of the heart) at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore. He was also involved in the cardio-oncology echocardiographic service there.

He actively teaches and was the core clinical faculty member of the cardiology senior residency programme at the National Healthcare Group, as well as a member of the cardiology resident advisory committee under the Ministry of Health. Dr Wong was also active in research which he published numerous peer-reviewed articles in international journals and authored a book chapter.

He is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. In recognition of his numerous publications and contributions towards the advancement in echocardiography, he was awarded the fellowship of the American Society of Echocardiography.
