Dr Yeo Tong Hong is a paediatrician and paediatric neurologist at Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical expertise includes paediatric neurology, tics and Tourette syndrome, headache and migraine, seizures and epilepsy, movement disorders and cerebral palsy.
Dr Yeo was the head and senior consultant of the neurology service at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and continues to be a visiting consultant there.
He completed his basic specialist training at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales, UK, followed by higher specialist training at Southampton Children’s Hospital, UK. He further completed his subspecialty programme in paediatric neurology at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, UK. He was awarded completion of certified training in paediatric neurology and paediatrics by the Royal College of Paediatric & Child Health (RCPCH), UK and the General Medical Council, UK.
He was elected a fellow of the RCPCH and served as a consultant paediatric neurologist at the Royal Hospital for Children, Scotland. During this time, he was instrumental in establishing the paediatric complex motor disorders service, neuro-rehabilitation service, and pharmacological modulation therapy and service, providing multi-disciplinary care and treatments for complex motor and movement disorders. Dr Yeo also held an honorary consultant paediatric neurologist position at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Evelina London Children’s Hospital, UK, where he honed his skills in deep brain stimulation for complex movement disorders in children.
While at KKH, he was pivotal in setting up the paediatric complex motor disorders and movement disorder service, as well as the paediatric integrated neuro-rehabilitation service.
His work in clinical research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and contributions to national and international meetings. He has been awarded several research grants, including the Ministry of Health Singapore Health Service Development Programme award and the KKH Paediatric Academic Clinical Programme Tan Cheng Lim Innovation Grant.
Besides his clinical and research roles, Dr Yeo is a clinical assistant professor with SingHealth Duke-National University of Singapore, adjunct assistant professor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and senior lecturer at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
He is a recipient of several awards including the Service from the Heart award and the SingHealth Health Quality Service awards.
