At Parkway East Hospital, we offer surgical services for hand, wrist and forearm. Some of the surgical services we offer are: Arthroscopy of the Hand and Wrist Joint Replacement in the Hand and Wrist Replantation of Hands If you are experiencing pain in your hand, it is often the result of wear and tear of one or a few of the many tendons present in your hand. This includes trigger fingers, De Quervain's tenosynovitis or extensor tendinitis. The key to treatment for these conditions is in getting the correct diagnosis and receiving the appropriate treatment. Many of these conditions are curable with simple treatment procedures such as percutaneous trigger finger, release surgery and open surgery. If you suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (compression of the median nerve at the wrist), you are probably experiencing pain and numbness in your hand, combined with early morning stiffness in your joints. This is common if you are older, and can lead to muscle wasting and nerve damage if ignored. Nerve compressions such as those from carpal tunnel syndrome result in numbness, pain, weakness and loss of function of the hand. Appropriate investigations, including nerve conduction studies and electromyography will be conducted, and surgical decompression is sometimes necessary. These can now be done using minimally-invasive techniques with telescope-assisted surgery. Click here to view more information.
