  • Dr Andy Wee Teck Huat is an orthopaedic surgeon practising at Parkway East Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. He specialises in performing shoulder and elbow surgery, arthroscopic sports surgery and the management of sports-related injuries. Other clinical expertise include arthroscopy of the hip, knee and ankle.
  • Dr Wee completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1999 and obtained his Master of Medicine (Orthopaedics) in 2005. He subsequently undertook advanced specialist training in orthopaedic surgery in 2009 to become a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Orthopaedics), UK.
  • Dr Wee received the Health Development Manpower Programme (HDMP) scholarship to undergo fellowship training in North America. He first completed his fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, USA in 2010 under the mentorship of Dr Bernard F. Morrey and Dr Joachin Sanchez-Sotelo. He then completed another fellowship with the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic in Ontario, Canada in 2011, where he trained under Dr Robert Litchfield and Dr Robert Giffin. He also completed the United States Medical Licensing Examination for the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates certification.
  • Dr Wee was formerly the head of the Department of Orthopaedics at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) in 2013, where he was a senior consultant orthopaedic surgeon. He also has experience working in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Department of Hand Surgery at Alexandra Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), National University Hospital (NUH) , Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and Kandang Kerbau (KK) Women’s and Children’s Hospital. He continues to be a visiting consultant to KTPH, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Changi General Hospital (CGH) in the fields of shoulder and elbow surgery, and arthroscopic sports surgery.
  • Dr Wee is a member of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association, where he served in the executive committee in 2014. He is also a member of the Canadian Academy of Sports and Exercise Medicine, the International Federation of Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
  • For his research, Dr Wee won the best poster presentation at the annual meeting of the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America. He also received the Young Orthopaedic Investigator award for the best research paper presented at the combined Singapore Orthopaedic Association and ASEAN Orthopaedic Association annual meeting in 2010. Dr Wee was a core clinical faculty member in the orthopaedic residency programme of the National Healthcare Group of Singapore. He is currently an adjunct assistant professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in NUS, where he is involved in both undergraduate and post-graduate medical education.
