Dr Fan Tai Weng Victor

Dr. Fan is a Medically and Dentally qualified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon in Singapore who has completed higher surgical training with FRCS (OMFS).

Before leaving for private practice, he was an assistant professor with the Faculty of Dentistry of National University of Singapore (NUS) teaching undergraduate students and graduate residents in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He had been teaching postgraduate surgery regionally in Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar. He was the inventor of the only rigid bioscaffold for jaw reconstruction with tooth socket preservation for dental implant treatment. He was the President of Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (Singapore) from 2006 – 2009 and was the Chapter Chair of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, College of Dental Surgeons, Academy of Medicine (2010 – 2013). He was a member of the Ministry of Health Dental Specialist Accreditation Committee that examined specialists in oral & maxillofacial surgeons entering the register of specialists (2008 - 2010). He is at present the director trainer for the only local faculty botox course for dentists.

His surgical repertoire ranges from simple operations like dental implant and bone grafting surgery, wisdom teeth surgery, orthognathic jaw realignment to major cancer resection, neck dissection and microvascular reconstruction including management of facial trauma and post traumatic deformity and is the only practice in Singapore which centres on major oral and maxillofacial surgery. As a medical doctor himself (besides being a dentist) he is actively involved in the combined management of medically compromised patients such as liver transplant patients and cancer patients on chemotherapy who may not be fit for dental surgery. He has wide experience with bone grafting procedures in major surgery and dental implant surgery such as sinus lifts and alveolar bone augmentation. He teaches in the facial plastic course for ENT surgeons in TTSH and his practice includes facial aesthetic surgery with orthognathic jaw realignment surgery.
