Dr Goh Yaw Chong is a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
His subspecialty is in gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery, advanced endoscopy and endoluminal therapy.
Dr Goh is experienced in treating gallbladder and common bile duct conditions (eg. stones), abdominal hernia, endoscopic interventions (eg. gastrointestinal endoscopy for early cancer detection, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and stenting), and gastrointestinal tumours and cancers.
He is a visiting senior consultant in the department of upper GI and bariatric surgery at Singapore General Hospital. He was previously the hospital’s director of GI oncology.
He has served as the honorary secretary and vice-president of the Council of College of Surgeons, Singapore. He is also an adjunct assistant professor in the department of physiology, and a senior clinical lecturer in surgery at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
Dr Goh was awarded a clinician scientist scholarship by the National Medical Research Council for translational research in medical sciences and was conferred a PhD in immunology by the University of Edinburgh in 2005. He continues to be involved in academic work and collaborations.
He served as a core faculty of the SingHealth residency surgery programme and was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Award in 2013 and 2014.
