Dr Ho Eu Chin

Dr Ho Eu Chin is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.

His interest is in diseases of the ears and provides operations including onlay tympanoplasty (repairing ear drum perforations), ossiculoplasty (to improve hearing), cholesteatoma surgery including canal-wall-down and canal-wall-up procedures (combined approach tympanoplasty), cochlear implants, and bone conduction and middle ear implants.

He is currently a PhD candidate at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine where he is also a house tutor. He was a former assistant director for clinical research in the clinical research & innovation office at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).

Dr Ho graduated from the University of Sheffield and obtained his master’s degree at the University of Warwick. He completed his postgraduate specialist training in ENT, head and neck surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham and Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He obtained the Intercollegiate FRCS (ORL) England.

He is experienced in managing conditions like vestibular migraine, persistent postural perceptual dizziness, Ménière’s disease, refractory and multi-canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, and unilateral and bilateral vestibular hypofunction with poor central compensation. Dr Ho collaborates closely with a team of allied health professionals including audiologists, vestibular physiotherapists and psychologists to provide holistic and personalised care to patients with complex and challenging balance issues.

He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award and completed his advanced training in balance medicine at the Mayo Clinic, University of Pittsburgh and Washington University. Additionally, he completed observerships at The House Institute and Stanford University Medical Center. Dr Ho is certified by the American Institute of Balance.

Dr Ho also has interests in the management of tinnitus and hearing loss, and has completed the National University of Singapore Tinnitus & Sound Tolerance Disorders Evaluation and Management Course. He initiated TTSH’s multi-disciplinary balance and combined hearing clinics. He also ran the joint occupational hearing clinic.

He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and has presented papers at over 50 international academic meetings. He has been the principal investigator and co-investigator for 16 research and innovation grants from the UK and Singapore.

He was a clinical senior lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and had been awarded the 2020 Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence and the TTSH Top 10 Teacher Award twice. He is passionate about medical charity work and regularly serves on medical missions to Cambodia, Philippines and Sri Lanka.
