Dr Lee Lip Seng

Dr Lee Lip Seng is a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.

His subspecialty interests include minimally invasive surgery for liver, pancreas, bile duct and gallstone diseases.

He also performs procedures for general surgical conditions including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic bile duct exploration, laparoscopic appendicectomy, laparoscopic hernia repair, and resection of the stomach, small bowel and colon.

He was previously a senior consultant and the director of hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) service at Changi General Hospital (CGH).

Dr Lee graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed his surgical training and obtained a master's degree as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. Upon receiving the Health Manpower Development Plan Award, he did his subspecialty training as a clinical fellow in laparoscopy and robotic HPB surgery at Yonsei Severance Hospital, South Korea. He is the earliest doctor in Singapore to be trained in robotic HPB surgery. Dr Lee was also accepted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, in 2022.

Upon his return to Singapore, Dr Lee helped CGH to develop minimally invasive and robotic HPB surgery. His training in laparoscopy and robotic surgery has helped patients who require advanced complex surgery (such as liver resection, Whipple’s procedure, distal pancreatectomy and bile duct resection) to be done in a minimally invasive method. He has been practising medicine for more than 15 years.

Dr Lee is an adjunct assistant professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, clinical senior lecturer and examiner at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and clinical teacher at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Dr Lee is also a supervisor for the basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures, and endoscopic procedures at CGH. He guides and teaches new surgeons taking up minimally invasive HPB surgery with laparoscopy and robots.

He has received multiple awards for his teaching as well as his care towards his patients. These include the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards and Eastern Health Alliance’s Caring Award.
