Dr Ng Puay Yong is a neurosurgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. His clinical interests include stroke, brain tumour and spine surgery. Besides conventional neurosurgery for brain and spinal conditions, Dr Ng performs radiosurgery and endovascular interventions.
Following his graduation from the National University of Singapore in 1989, Dr Ng underwent neurosurgical training in Royal Adelaide Hospital, Adelaide Children’s Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre in South Australia. He obtained his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1996. Dr Ng’s neurosurgical experience was further enhanced in his visiting fellowship in Barrow Neurological Institute in Arizona, USA in 1998, then at Yale University, Connecticut, USA in 1999, and at Tohoku University, Japan in 2003.
Dr Ng was previously the Chief of Section of Neurovascular Surgery at the National Neuroscience Institute. He continues to serve as a visiting consultant for National Neuroscience Institute, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore Gamma Knife Centre and National University Hospital.
Dr Ng is a member of the Asian Congress Neurological Surgery, Singapore Stroke Registry Committee and Clinical Neuroscience Society Singapore. He was the Honorary Secretary for the Medical Advisory Board at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in 2004 – 2005.
