Dr Pinakin V Parekh is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospitals and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
He subspecialises in interventional cardiology for the management of coronary artery disease and in performing coronary angioplasties that incorporate intracoronary physiology and imaging. His expertise also includes complex anatomical subtypes such as the left main, bifurcations, severely calcified disease and chronic total occlusions.
Prior to entering private practice, Dr Parekh was a general and interventional cardiologist at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH). He was an integral member of the hospital’s dynamic coronary intervention team and provided round-the-clock primary angioplasty services to residents in northern Singapore. He is currently a visiting consultant at KTPH.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore. He received the Health Manpower Development Plan award and completed his interventional cardiology fellowship at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, UK. He did his comprehensive general cardiology training at the National Heart Centre Singapore and Changi General Hospital. He is also trained in family medicine and attained a graduate diploma in family medicine. While at Woodlands Health, he held multiple leadership roles in establishing key cardiology services for the new hospital on top of his clinical duties at KTPH.
Dr Parekh is a member of the Singapore Cardiac Society and a fellow of the Academy of Medicine. He is also a member of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society and a registered medical practitioner with the UK General Medical Council. He has multiple international recognition for his achievements and has been inducted as a fellow in the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons, UK, Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, USA.
He has taught and mentored many students from the medical schools in Singapore as well as overseas. He is active in academia and is frequently a presenter or faculty at various general and interventional cardiology meetings regionally and internationally.
