Dr See Li Shuen Jovina

Dr Jovina See is an ophthalmologist practising in Paragon Medical Centre, Singapore.

She subspecialises in performing laser and surgery for glaucoma and cataracts, LASIK, and a wide variety of other eye conditions. She has a special interest in the imaging and early detection of glaucoma progression, as well as in cataract and refractive surgery.

Dr See spent several years as the vice president of the Glaucoma Surgeons of Singapore. She also served as the head of glaucoma services at the National University Hospital (NUH) and was a visiting consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre. Later she became a clinical teacher at the National University of Singapore and for 10 years, she was the clinical director of the Shinagawa Eye Centre where she continued to perform cataract, glaucoma, LASIK and other eye surgeries.

After graduating with her degrees in medicine and surgery, she went on to train in ophthalmology in Singapore, during which she spent some time in the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary training in glaucoma imaging diagnostics. She completed her 1-year fellowship in glaucoma at the Dalhousie Eye Care Centre in the University of Dalhousie in Halifax, Canada.

Prior to private practice, Dr See worked in the eye departments of NUH, Singapore National Eye Centre, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Changi Hospital, and KK's Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

She has published numerous articles in various ophthalmology journals and has contributed to chapters in various textbooks on ophthalmology, including Yanoff & Duker’s Textbook of Ophthalmology, 3rd and current editions, Mastering Phacoemulsification in Difficult Situations, and more.

She has also been an invited speaker and course instructor for numerous local and international ophthalmology symposiums and conferences in many countries such as the USA, Germany, China, Malaysia, and more.

Dr See has won several awards such as the Canadian Ophthalmology Society/Coherent-AMT Award for Excellence in Research. She has also been awarded various national research grants both in Singapore and in Canada.
