Dr Julian Tan is a cardiologist practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.
He subspecialises in interventional cardiology, which involves treating diseased heart vessels or coronary artery disease (CAD).
He has a special interest in performing complex percutaneous coronary intervention (also known as coronary angioplasty), which is a non-surgical procedure that uses a thin tube and stent to open narrowed blood vessels.
Dr Tan was conferred the Ministry of Health's Healthcare Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship to pursue subspecialty training in interventional cardiology at the Alfred Heart Centre and Epworth HealthCare in Melbourne, Australia.
Dr Tan was a principal investigator in numerous multinational clinical trials and co-investigator in many landmark trials at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Dr Tan has been published in several publications in peer-reviewed journals, and has been invited to lecture at regional and international cardiology conferences such as AsiaPCR, EuroPCR and Hong Kong Society of Transvatherter Endo-Cardiovascular Therapeutics (HKSTENT).
Dr Tan is a clinical senior lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and a clinical teacher at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is also a core clinical faculty member of the National Healthcare Group's cardiology senior residency programme.
