Dr Yeow Yuyi is a urologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical interests include benign prostatic hyperplasia, minimally invasive surgery for complex urinary stones, prevention of urinary stones, bladder cancer, kidney cancer and laparoscopic management of peritoneal dialysis catheters.
Before joining private practice, he was a consultant in the urology department at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). He is currently a visiting consultant at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Dr Yeow graduated from the National University of Singapore and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK, and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award to train at San Raffaele Hospital, Italy. While there, he trained in advanced endourology and complex stone surgery.
At TTSH, he was among the earliest teams to perform supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) routinely. He also performs mini PCNL to treat larger kidney stones with faster recovery and lower complication rates. He was instrumental in reducing the hospitalisation duration for patients undergoing complex stone surgery, and even allowed for some procedures to be done as day surgery with patients discharging home the same day.
He is currently a clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a clinical teacher at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He was formerly the programme director of the National Healthcare Group Urology residency programme.
He has published numerous journal articles as well as book chapters in urology, and is a reviewer for the European Urology Open Science journal.
