At Parkway East Hospital, our specialists and surgical teams work together to treat musculoskeletal disorders arising from sports injuries, congenital and degenerative diseases, tumours and infections. Some of the orthopaedic surgical procedures which we offer include decompression laminectomy, knee arthroscopy, total knee replacement and total hip replacement.
Decompression Laminectomy
At Parkway East Hospital, we offer surgical procedures such as decompression laminectomy to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or spinal nerve roots. The narrowing of the spinal canal puts pressure on the spinal cord, resulting in spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis is characterised by pain, numbness, or weakness in the legs, back, neck and arms.
Laminectomy surgery on your back removes the bone and/or tissue that is causing the pressure on the spine. It can also be used to treat spinal injuries, herniated discs (commonly known as slipped disc) and spinal tumours.
Knee Arthroscopy
We also offer surgical procedures such as knee arthroscopy to repair or replace a damaged meniscus (the C-shaped discs that cushion the knee) in your knee. Meniscal repair is a minimally-invasive procedure that can be done by arthroscopic surgery (keyhole surgery).
Arthroscopy is the best way to treat many knee injuries, including meniscal tear. The small wounds from the arthroscopy are less painful than those from open surgery.
Total Knee Replacement
Knee pain caused by arthritis can severely affect your ability to lead a full and active life. At Parkway East Hospital, we provide total knee replacement using metallic implants to replace the diseased (arthritic) parts of the joint. Knee replacement surgery is becoming an increasingly common way of treating this arthritis in older patients.
